Who are we ?

The studio and the man

Fruits of Yggdrasil Studio is a young video game studio created by Louis Lettry in Switzerland in september 2019, but no one else than him is writing this text, so he’s gonna go with the first person onwards.

Since I discovered video games when I was 8 years old, I have always wanted to create them. The thrill of growing an idea, discovering its possibilities, pushing its boundaries and then making it come to life has always been one of the most satisfying feelings I know.

Thus after my academic studies in computer science and having finished a PhD in computer vision, I decided I wanted to continue being creative and innovative. Thus I created this studio and named it following after one of the most emblematic trees of the mythology: Yggdrasil.

Yggdrasil is the tree that carries the nine worlds of the nordic mythology in its canopy, they are its fruits in a sense. In a metaphorical comparison, I will care and tend to my tree to create and produce small virtual worlds, video games, in its branches and serve them to the many hungry players awaiting out there for sweet new adventures.

At the moment, the tree is blooming with flowers all over the place, ideas are plenty and of many colors and shapes. Now flowers and fruits are growing and it is a beautiful sight to behold. I am doing my best to transform as many as I can into juicy video-game fruits to be played and enjoyed.

What do we do ?

One-night stand video games

The studio is currently focusing on developing

"One-night stand video games".

Those games are contained unique adventures for 2 players to enjoy on an evening or an afternoon together. Similarly to how one would go to the theatre or play some bowling, one-night stand video games are social activities designed to be enjoyed without the burden of complex organization and travel.

Pick a friend, select an evening (maybe two if you are a bit slow ;), choose the game and spend a few hours cooperating through different challenges and enigmas.

Gameplay-wise, the games are developed around strong cooperation and wider gameplay.

Strong cooperation is the kind of cooperation that would not be possible alone (Quite obvious but read me out). Unlike many games where the cooperation is about playing together but where one can succeed for many, in our games many challenges require many to be one by communicating and organizing themselves: some challenges simply can't be solved alone.

Wider gameplay refers to the fact that we bring many different and unique gameplay elements and challenges in the game. Thus, playing the game never feels redundant and provide variety to the table. This brings the Adventure to the game: exploring and understanding how elements interact and what is the solution to moving forward is both exciting and rewarding.

No-strings attached ! You don't have to abandon your favourite 3-letters-abriged game. Take a break from your usual everyday life or entertainment, spend a nice morning/afternoon/evening (or 2) with a friend. After enjoying it, you are free to resume to your habits with some nice new memories.
